SOUTH AFRICAN HIP HOP MUSIC
AKA THE PRINCE OF SA's RAP
My main concern here is that what role is AKA's music playing in the lives of his supporters or followers,is there a message in his songs? and if there is,is that message positive or negative for his fans?.Remember the type of music we listen to plays a huge role in our lives.I believe that hip-hop artists should be motivating, inspiring and liberating.I know that commercial hip hop is all about money and fame which depends firmly on the type of lyrics you write but the important message should always come first because without fans there will be no AKA or other artists. This is what i would like us to discuss about because i believe this is how the world of hip hop should be in order for people to learn while listening to their favorite music genre.I believe that every song written should carry a certain message for people directed to in order to educate or motivate them to become better people. As i have mentioned that what we listen to plays a role in our lives, most of our youth in SA are hip hop driven, how they talk, dress and behave is affected by this type of music. This is no good for us as a young generation because this drives us further and further away from our cultural way of life and who we truly are as Africans.AKA and every Hip-hop artists in the world should not only entertain their fans but also educate them.
The hip hop music in South Africa has been developing since the beginning of it during the mid 80s. New artists and rappers have been emerging with their own individual skills and new ways of producing hip hop music. On our South African hip hop platform we have two different types hip hop like we have around the world and other countries such as USA which are commercial hop hop and underground hip hop. Commercial hip hop is the one that we usually have or see on our media platforms such television or radio stations and Underground hip hop is usually found on the internet or online radio stations. What i understand is that music is art and arts has to be story telling. What makes this two types of hip hop different is that underground artists are still rooted on the origins of hip hop and what hip-hop really is,which is story telling, while others are only focusing on the commercial side of it,which is usually about money, woman, rolling in big cars and owning big houses and fame.

THE PRINCE OF SA's RAP... |
Most of SA's hip hop artists are on the commercial type of hip hop because of some reasons that i cannot mention. On my blog i'll be focusing on one of ''South Africa's best hip hop artist who won metro FM awards for ''best Newcomer",best hip hop "as a solo act and ''best produced album" for his debut Altar Ego. AKA was then dubbed as "South African Prince of Rap''by one of South African newspapers and he begun to be well known in Africa and around the world. In 2011 AKA's song "Victory Lap"won the Channel O's Most gifted Hip-hop Video at the 7th annual Channel O Video awards and at the 18th South African Music Awards AKA was awarded Male Artist of the year and Best Street Urban Music Album(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aka).He has opened for international rappers such as Kanye West,Snoop Lion,Rick Ross and others during their tour in South Africa. The Prince of South African Hip-hop gained more followers in South Africa and around the world because of his achievements.
